Every man's curse is another's blessing. War Insurance is a form of specialty insurance that many governments seek out from their own parliamentary provisions, as opposed to contracting the nearest Insurance Joe or Nancy.
Many Insurance Product Providers world over specifically make an exclusion for insuring against any acts of war or political violence in any form of insurance contract a private prospective client would sign. Therefore the natural route for any government is to use hard earned taxpayer's money for what may be a war that is worth it (especially if the war was self-inflicted). The situation in Ukraine is as a result of just being unlucky. No fault of the Ukrainian people of today, and perhaps this debacle presents an opportunity to put to rest the Russian debate of whether or not Ukraine can stand as sovereign state.
Historically, markets have reacted not as much as one would predict. Research has shown that markets are inflected only a little by an ongoing war, and that in the most recent war, US equities only fell by a meagre 15 %, situation considering (National Bureau of Research, USA). Modern day Russia however, are not to experience stability in their local market, not least to mention the most recent fresh package of sanctions imposed by the UK government against their banks and plutocrats, for having simply "sent a delegation to visit certain independent parts of Ukraine" (The Independent, UK).
A lot cryptofanatics would be relishing opportunities to neutralise the price volatility of Ukraine's local Hryvnia against the world's leading hard currencies. Reports of bitcoin thriving as a result of the socio-political crisis have got the cryptofreaks looking through Ukrainian economic lenses. Perhaps a further revelation of a derivative's ability to prove its usefulness and immunity to various forms of political, social and economic failure.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Ukrainians during this time of agonising uncertainty.
